Location of Puri - An ancient town with a history dating back to the tenth century, Puri is the southernmost district of Orissa. This temple town is situated between an altitude of 19° 28' and 20° 26' North Latitude and 84° 56' and 86° 25' East Longitude. Named after its district headquarters Puri, situated on the shore of the Bay of Bengal in 19° 48' N and 85° 52° E; Puri is stretched over an are of 2,499 square miles and is populated by 10, 17,284 souls (1901 census).
